A message from our founder, Sheron Sultan.

Sanibonani (Hello) and thank you for visiting!

Yatimba! was inspired by my childhood experiences in South Africa, as well as growing up in my new adopted home, Australia.

We derived the name Yatimba! from the word “matimba,” which in Shangaan, one of South Africa's official languages means power, strength, and resilience.

Facilitating community workshops and school programs since 2020, we have found that young people can face significant challenges when transitioning from primary to secondary education, which can lead to increased anxiety, lowered self-esteem, reduced engagement and motivation, and impaired academic performance.

In addition, we have observed students’ struggles with peer pressure, bullying, digital wellbeing, increased inactivity and healthy eating.

Based on these findings, we designed an inclusive program to provide comprehensive and targeted support. Our activities promote informed decision-making, physical and mental well-being, and foster genuine connections.

My grandmother always taught us that with privilege comes responsibility.
It is our duty to guide and support our young people, helping them grow into the next generation of healthy, happy, and well-adjusted Australians.
